This special event allowed us to celebrate the diverse cultures within our community through performances, food, and music.
The day started with the Canadian National Anthem and a Land Acknowledgement, honoring the traditional caretakers of the land. Peter Frampton welcomed everyone, setting a tone of unity and gratitude. Following the opening, LEF staff delivered warm welcome remarks. Attendees enjoyed a short trailer and video about the Summer Program, along with testimonials from parents, students, and program workers, highlighting the program’s impact.
Spirit Wind Women's Hand Drum Group opened the performances with several songs which served as another reminder of the land we were gathered on. They got everyone up on their feet and moving around in a circle together, in unison. We thank Spirit Wind for their important contribution to the day.
The day was filled with amazing student performances. The performers dazzled with a Colombian dance, while others performed the Yambeque. Summer Program participants and volunteers shared information in presentations about their cultures, and a group moved everyone with Eritrean music. We also enjoyed a lively dance from Somalia and a beautiful Kolomyika dance and song. The Spanish Band added more excitement with performances of "Shallow" and "Color Esperanza."
Our seniors also joined in, and Paola’s second dance performance was a highlight. The Latin Dance segment brought even more energy to the celebration.
Multicultural Day was also a time to express our thanks. We recognized our volunteers with certificates for their dedicated support throughout the program and thanked our clients for their participation.
The day was a wonderful celebration of diversity and community. We are grateful to everyone who contributed to making this event so memorable and for being a part of The Learning Enrichment Foundation’s journey.
