Chit Chats for Afghan Women

Every week on Tuesday until October 14, 2025

Join us for two discussions that can help Afghan women new in Canada. We will learn about information you should know before becoming a citizen, and what to expect as a part of daily life in Canada.

October 7th: Pre-Citizenship Information

Our first chit chat will go over what Afghan women should know if they are interested in earning Canadian citizenship. Topics include:

  • Residency requirements

  • Language requirements

  • The Citizenship knowledge test

  • Application documents

We will talk about community programs that offer free help, like settlement agencies and libraries that provide citizenship classes, practice tests, and study circles.

October 14th: Settlement & Daily Life

We will talk about how Afghan women may adjust to life in Canada. Topics include:

  • Accessing healthcare, education, banking, and transportation.

  • Finding housing, work, and childcare.

  • Getting financial support for childcare.

  • Learning about social services.

    Over time, you can learn how to build confidence, gain independence, and form stronger connections within the community.
