Warehouse Essential Skills

LEF’s Warehouse Essential Skills Program is a comprehensive, 10-week long training program that has been successfully connecting graduates to the warehousing and logistics field for over 20 years.

This program is for individuals interested in obtaining forklift certificates and gaining valuable shipping and receiving skills. One of the program's distinctive features is the inclusion of six weeks of practical warehouse experience, providing valuable hands-on training

 

Led by certified industry experts, the Warehouse Essential Skills Program is approved under the ‘Private Career Colleges Act, 2005’. The program is specially designed for Ontario Works Recipients, providing them with a solid foundation in the industry. Throughout the course, you will:  

  • Obtain essential forklift certifications 

  • Develop shipping and receiving skills 

  • Acquire theoretical knowledge and gain practical experience 

  • Receive job search support and placement assistance   

Upon successful completion, you will receive multiple certifications, including:

  • Narrow Aisle Reach, 

  • Counter Balance Forklift, 

  • Walkie End Rider, 

  • WHMIS, 

  • Occupational Health & Safety, 

  • First Aid, Emergency CPR, 

  • The LEF Industrial Skills Certification.

Other Programs

  • Building Maintenance and Superintendent Training
    Join a 10-week training program, experiencing hands on training and a 4-week job placement as you learn building systems basics, fire systems and safety, customer service skills, and more, all at no cost for eligible students!
  • Bicycle Assembly and Maintenance (BAM)
    Since 2009, LEF has been operating the Weston Wheels bike shop serving the Mount Dennis area at affordable prices. In addition, we have been teaching the community to assemble and repair bicycles through a 4-week intensive program about bike repair as an individual or an employee.
  • Forklifts
    Is your Forklift certification expiring soon, or has it already expired? As per recommendations from CSA B335, Forklift operators should receive retraining certification every three years and you must get re-certified to operate a forklift. This course will refresh your knowledge on one or three types of forklifts: Reach Forklifts, Counter Balance Forklift and Walkie End Riders.
  • Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) 2015
    Be prepared for your job with our WHMIS program. The Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) 2015 will teach you the key elements of workplace safety, ranging from the labelling of containers to the provision of material safety data sheets.
