The Learning Enrichment Foundation (LEF) is a not-for-profit (with a social enterprise mindset) which provides a multidisciplinary and holistic set of supports for members of our community including those who are: in transition, new to Canada, out of the workforce, and a host of other individual circumstances.  We currently knit together Settlement Services, Childcare, Employment Supports, Skills Training, and Language Training.

Position Summary:

We are looking for a team member who works as part of an integrated team supporting individuals with a disability to gain employment. On an ongoing basis the Coordinator will be responsible for working with people with disabilities understanding challenges, barriers and trends as well as program coordination and reporting. The Coordinator will coordinate outreach activities, build relationships with partners and employers, coordinate and facilitate workshops, and provide one on one supports to participants. This position assists employers to understand participants’ abilities, needs and interests. In addition, also support participants to match on their skills and interests with employment opportunities and employer needs through job matching and job placement supports. The Coordinator will also provide job retention assistance for those participants who require additional coaching and mentoring in order to maintain employment or to make the next step on their career path. As a key member, the Coordinator will be working with a dedicated team of professionals, who are highly committed to our community and who support employment and settlement needs, develop employer and community partnerships, and are all strong leaders in their fields of expertise. This position works cooperatively with other staff and managers to ensure clients have positive experiences and work towards meeting their goals.

 

Overall Responsibilities:

-       Comply with the accountability framework, including meeting targets, as set out by the organization’s goals and objectives.

-       Ground work in the Client Engagement Code of Practice and other LEF policies.

-       Responsible for program outreach and intake, coordinating and facilitating workshops, and connecting and liaising with guest speakers.

-       Work with team members to provide supports to participants, understand the unique needs of each participant, and link them with opportunities for skill development, financial assistance, and employment.

-       Responsible for record keeping, administrative duties and supporting program evaluation and reporting.

-       Develop new and maintain existing employer relationships including assessing and monitoring employer referrals.

-       Match LEF clients to job leads by screening clients applications and résumés.

-       Ensure client / employer follow-up is being conducted to generate further opportunity for training.

-       Develop and maintain positive relationships with our community partners.

-       Monitor client progress, employer relations and provide written reports as needed.

-       Enter employer and client information into database and complete written reports; database maintenance and data analysis.

-       Liaise and work collaboratively with other Employer Engagement Specialists, Client Engagement Workers, trainers, and facilitators to help match candidates to jobs, fostering placed client outcomes.

-       Plan and participate in outreach activities to expand networks, promote program and reach out to community members and employers.

-       Participate in staff meetings and professional development activities as required.

 

 

Qualifications and Experience:

-       Understanding of the trends and challenges of people with disabilities, including employment-related issues

-       1-2 years’ experience coordinating projects

-       Excellent project coordination skills including experience with project reporting

-       Experience administering wage subsidy, and job placement

-       Ability to handle difficult situations with maturity and high degree of professionalism

-       Proven successful experience completing and maintaining proper documentation including financial and program outcome information

-       Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

-       Goal oriented, outcome driven, highly organized, flexible and adaptable with superior time management skills

-       Excellent understanding of current labour market trends

-       Dynamic, vibrant relationship builder and connector

-       Knowledge of the Weston/Mount Dennis neighbourhood is an asset

-       Multi-cultural sensitivity and demonstrated success in working with adults of diverse cultural backgrounds, in a multi-cultural/multi-racial environment

-       The Learning Enrichment Foundation places a high value on lived experience. Personal experience with poverty, unemployment, homelessness, disabilities and/or similar challenges is strongly considered an asset

-       Must be Proficient in MS Office Applications; and experience with online engagement tools (i.e. zoom, Microsoft Teams etc.)  

-       Flexibility and adaptability to the changing environment working from home and in person office 

-       Must have a Vulnerable Sector Criminal Reference Check and proof of two COVID vaccinations
