 Position Summary:

The Deployment Manager will be responsible for the oversight of supply-on call educators to cover the staffing needs for day-to-day deployment; as well as coverage for vacations and leaves for all part-time and full-time employees for the Children and Families Department.

In this role, the Deployment Manager must be an excellent communicator and assist in continually building a strong sense of belonging amongst our supply-on call educators.  The goal is to ensure that the organization’s staffing requirements are always met in a timely, cost effective and efficient manner, and employees work in a friendly, supportive environment.

Salary Range: $60,000 to $65,000

 Overall Responsibilities:

  • In collaboration with supervisors, manage daily staffing deployment across multiple child care centres, ensuring adequate coverage to always meet CCEYA licensing requirements.

  • Respond to unscheduled absence calls in real time, deploying supply educators and minimizing service disruptions

  • Liaise with external agencies in a timely manner to fill any outstanding vacancies.  

  • Maintain flexible working hours, with ability to adjust as necessary

  • Communicate coverage assignment and deployment plans promptly to supply educators and Supervisors

  • Maintains positive, open, and direct communication with Supply Educators, Supervisors, Sr. Managers and Directors and relevant stakeholders.

  • Work collaboratively with senior managers and supervisors to provide coaching, guidance, and feedback to the supply team, and to involve them in belonging and engagement activities.

  • Maintain and update staffing schedules on Dayforce

  • Collaborate with finance department and supervisors to ensure accurate payroll inputs are completed in a timely manner.

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements regarding qualifications i.e. current VSC

  • Build and maintain positive relationships with supply educators

  • Track and report trends related to supply staffing levels and identify gaps or emerging shortages; recommend solutions or adjustment

  • Manage and maintain up-to-date deployment/shift bidding platform.

  • Ensure a roster of supply educators is maintained with availability and qualifications to support the organization’s needs, collaborating with HR on hiring priorities

  • Assist with recruiting and interviewing new supply educators


LEF Health and Safety compliance:

 

  • Work in compliance with all LEF health and safety policies and procedures

  • Promotes LEF’s Occupational Health & Safety Policy

  • Participates in health & safety education and training


Qualifications:

  • College diploma or at least two (2) years’ experience in relevant field

  • Proven supervisory experience in staffing, deployment and scheduling

  • Experience in the childcare sector a considerable asset

  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.

  • Strong computer literacy skills required, such as Microsoft suite (incl. Teams & Outlook) and Dayforce or similar HR software platform is a considerable asset

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment with skill and precision

  • Proven critical thinking, problem solving and flexibility

  • Knowledge of ratio guidelines in accordance with the Child Care Early Years Act (CCEYA) Outstanding organizational and time management skills

  • Exceptional attention to detail

  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills

  • Strong diplomacy, tactful, sound judgment skills

  • High level of professionalism and discretion
