Senior Accountant

Job Summary:
The Senior Accountant is responsible for general accounting functions and reporting. This position interacts on a regular basis with all levels of LEF management, providing support with various financial processes and reporting. This role is a hybrid role where most of the work is performed from a home office with requirements to attend in person meetings at LEF locations as requested.
Reports to: Controller
Duties:
Recognizing and recording revenue from all sources including all federal, provincial and municipal grants
Recording monthly allocations to central administration from all contracts and funders including all expense allocations per employee/departments
Complete bank reconciliations in Microsoft Business Central monthly and post all related bank journal entries
Support preparation of various funder reports to ensure compliance and completeness with budgets and contracts
Support preparation and distribution of quarterly financial variance reports (actual versus budget) for all reporting units including individual programs
Performs reconciliations of third-party payment vendor account (Square, Float) on monthly basis
Monitoring and reconciling all Deferred Revenue accounts and all related general ledger accounts on an ongoing basis
Prepare and file quarterly HST and Public Service Rebate
Complete annual property tax rebate filing
Prepare and provide year-end audit documentation for Fiscal audit
Prepare and post journal entries, including monthly/quarterly accruals
Ensures Financial Policies are adhered to
Ad hoc reporting/analysis as required
LEF Health and Safety:
Participate in promoting Health & Safety at LEF in accordance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act
Participate in Health and Safety education and training
Work in compliance with all LEF Health and Safety policies and procedures
Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in progressively responsible positions in a not-for-profit environment, preference given to Childcare experience
Post Secondary education in accounting is required
CPA designation an asset
Sound working knowledge of Microsoft Office; advanced knowledge of Excel
Excellent time management skills with the ability to multi-task
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as strong organizational abilities
Adept at building collaborative working relationships across the organization
Experience working with an ERP system preference given to Microsoft Business Central
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
