Program Coordinator/Career Support Specialist

Our integrated services focus on those: in transition, new to Canada, out of the workforce, laid off, and a host of other individual circumstances. LEF offers a holistic service model, builds on community connections, and focuses on supporting the economic independence and community engagement of families. Our Client Engagement Team weaves together services and resources to offer seamless support across newcomer, training and employment services, and all job responsibilities reflect one integrated program with staff working together across interdisciplinary teams.

Job Summary:
The LYC Coordinator/Career Support Specialist supports participants in identifying and aligning their skills and interests with suitable employment opportunities and provides job placement support. This position is part of the Launch Your Career (LYC) Program, which fosters career readiness and workforce integration for individuals aged 15–30 who are Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or convention refugees. The program offers employment skills training, industry-recognized certifications, and paid work placement opportunities for youth facing barriers to employment.
We are seeking an outgoing, energetic, and culturally responsive individual who enjoys working with youth from diverse backgrounds and building strong, meaningful relationships. As part of LEF’s collaborative team, the Program Coordinator and Client Engagement Worker will work alongside passionate professionals who are deeply connected to the community and support employment and settlement needs. This role also involves actively developing and strengthening employer and community partnerships.
Salary Range:
$25.00 to $28.00
Overall Responsibilities:
Client Engagement & Intake
Assess client readiness and suitability for the program.
Evaluate clients’ work skills, education, and past job experiences, considering any disability-related limitations or needs.
Work with the team to determine client acceptance into the program.
Monitor new referrals and respond to program inquiries.
Job Readiness & Training Support
Provide comprehensive case management, including orientation, needs assessment, action planning, referrals, and solution-focused counselling to support youth through job matching and job placement supports.
Coordinate and deliver workshops by arranging guest speakers, facilitating sessions, managing room bookings, setting up technology, and tracking participant attendance.
Administers financial supports, including eligibility determination and documentation compliance.
Follow-Up & Employment Retention Support
Provide ongoing support and check-ins with clients throughout their employment journey:
Weekly follow-ups for clients not yet placed in jobs.
Bi-monthly follow-ups for clients in job placements.
Quarterly follow-ups for fully employed clients, up to 12 months after employment begins.
Provide ongoing job retention support to participants requiring additional coaching and mentoring to successfully maintain employment and progress along their career pathway.
Networking & Community Outreach
Responsible for program outreach and intake, marketing the program to partners and networks.
Stay informed about available resources and services to support clients effectively.
Connect clients with wrap around supports and community.
Build partnerships with community agencies, employers, and organizations to facilitate referrals and client supports.
Participate in staff meetings and professional development activities as required.
Documentation & Reporting:
Comply with the accountability framework, including meeting targets, as set out by the organization’s goals and objectives.
Coordinate and deliver workshops by arranging guest speakers, facilitating sessions, managing room bookings, setting up technology, and tracking participant attendance.
Maintain high accuracy in data collection and reporting and consistently monitor and track caseload success rate to achieve individual targets and contribute to team objectives.
Assess and document clients' job retention status post-employment for a one-year period.
Responsible for record keeping, administrative and supporting program evaluation and reporting.
Track employer placement agreements and prepare wage subsidy claim forms, ensuring accuracy and timely submission to accounting.
Monitor client progress, employer relations, and provide written reports as needed.
Maintain accurate records of Case management, outcomes, and any follow-up services provided.
Prepare reports and track progress of clients’ individualized action plans
LEF Health and Safety compliance:

Participates in health & safety education and training.
Works in compliance with all LEF health & safety policies and procedures.
Work Environment
Office-based in collaboration with teams and other departments.
Occasional evening or weekend work may be required based on client needs.
Qualifications & Experience:
Understanding of the trends and challenges of youth, including employment-related issues.
University degree and/or college diploma in Social Work or a related discipline. A relevant combination of training and experience will also be considered.
1-2 years’ experience working with youth in employment and career development.
Demonstrated project coordination skills including experience with project reporting.
Commitment to a holistic, client-centred approach using sustainable livelihoods and motivational interviewing.
Proven ability to assist clients in using resources and technology to support job search activities.
Experience administering wage subsidy and job placement.
Excellent understanding of current labour market trends.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong organizational and time management.
Experience in taking initiative, demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Proven successful experience completing and maintaining proper documentation including financial and program outcome information.
Excellent writing/verbal communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills.
Goal oriented, outcome driven, highly organized, flexible and adaptable with superior time management skills.
Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and achieve performance targets.
Dynamic, vibrant relationship builder and connector.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with youth from diverse cultural and racial backgrounds in multi-cultural environments, fostering inclusion, respect, and understanding.
Proficient in MS Office applications and able to quickly learn program specific reporting systems.
Knowledge of the Weston/Mount Dennis neighbourhood is an asset.
Must have a Vulnerable Sector Criminal Reference Check is required for this position.
