Position Summary:

The Manager of Supervisor Support Services will ensure implementation of strategies to uphold pedagogical development across the department and continuity of the essential aspects of childcare operations. This role will work closely with Directors and Senior Managers in the development and delivery of special projects including, but not limited to professional learning, Land-based learning and Seasonal Pedagogy, family engagement, and community connections. This role will also work with Supervisors and/or Senior Manager to address centre-specific needs, introduce and facilitate implementation of new strategies, best practices and support systems to deepen program quality. As required, and in the absence of the Supervisor, the Manager of Supervisor Support Services will ensure compliance with all legislative/regulatory child care requirements and management of child care centres.

 

This position requires a flexible schedule, working up to 35 hours per week, and the ability to travel between all LEF locations based on operational needs. The work location is flexible and includes working from childcare centres in the Supervisor’s absence, working from home and/or in the office. A suitable home office space is required for any virtual work.

Salary Range:

$75,000 - $78,000 Annual


Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  1. Special Projects:

  • Collaborates closely with Directors/Senior Managers to develop strategic and responsive plans for both individualized and overall program enhancement.

  • Works collaboratively with Senior Managers and Supervisors to implement and evaluate special projects and strategies for departmental growth.

  • Facilitates professional learning to enhance program delivery and pedagogical practices.

  • Shares best practices and lived experiences in a manner that is accessible and contributes to the knowledge and skills of educators and supervisors.

  • Liaises with other LEF departments to support internal knowledge sharing. E.g: works with Digital Communications team on special projects, departmental communications, website content

  • Connects staff and peers to community, government and parent resources as required

  • Project coordination as required. 


  1. Itinerant Supervisor Services:

General:

  • Is on-site and available when a supervisor is absent, as required, and may perform essential operational duties related to financial management and policy compliance administration.

  • Provides consistent leadership and mentoring across multiple LEF sites, as assigned.

  • Demonstrates flexibility and adaptability when supporting different team dynamics and environments.

  • Assesses quickly and responds to centre-specific needs, ensuring smooth daily operations.

  • Builds strong rapport with educators and centre teams across sites.

  • Emboldens others to develop strengths and facilitates opportunities for professional growth.

  • Collaborates closely with Supervisors and Senior Managers to stay informed about operational details at each Centre, as relevant

Financial Management:

  • Develops strategies to support financial management of Child Care centres including collecting parent fees, managing staffing based on attendance and enrollment, and monitoring centers' budget, as needed

  • Other duties as required.

Policies and Regulations (Administration):

  • Develops strategies to support effective implementation and compliance with all LEF, CCEYA, MOE, TCS, and TPH policies and regulations.

  • Provides operational leadership in the absence of the Supervisor, ensuring continuity of program delivery, admissions processes, attendance submissions, and regulatory reporting.

  • Facilitates regulatory compliance inspections and implement corrective actions, as required in the absence of the Supervisor.

Policies and Regulations (Program/Activities):

  • In collaboration with Directors/Senior Managers develops strategies for implementation of seasonal pedagogy, land-based learning and fostering gratitude for the natural world.

  • Partners with Supervisors and educators to complete indoor and outdoor environmental assessments and develop action plans for program enhancement.

  • Develops strategies to promote progressive curriculum implementation

  • Partners with Supervisors and educators to assess health and safety standards, reduce hazards and promote healthy risk taking

Policies and Regulations (Health & Safety):

  • Promotes and adhere to Occupational Health & Safety policies.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Team and Community Engagement:

  • Mentors others by providing group and individual coaching and professional learning opportunities, in collaboration with Supervisors, Senior Managers, and/or Directors.

  • Collaborate with leadership team to develop and facilitate orientation materials for new educators, students and volunteers

  • Collaborates with Supervisors/Senior Managers to encourage innovation and professional growth.

  • Participates in community events and sector network groups, as required

  • Ensures organizational compliance with the collective bargaining agreement governing CUPE Local 5575

Qualifications Required:

  • Early Childhood Education Degree or Diploma with work experience in all age groups

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Supervisory role and/or has demonstrated capacity in successfully leading diverse teams and programs.

  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of current pedagogical approaches, including Land-Based Learning, Indigenous perspectives and outdoor play principles.

  • Proven experience and passion for guiding, mentoring and coaching colleagues.

  • Ability to manage time, prioritize work effectively, and implement new initiatives with short notice.

  • Experience working independently, and able to contribute, and be an influential member of a multidisciplinary team.

  • Strong understanding and use of technology and software such as Microsoft suite and Teams, CRM, and Story Park

  • Experience implementing plans to support children with varied abilities and communities with varied socio-economic and cultural demographics.

  • Strong knowledge of Early Learning Framework (ELF), How Does Learning Happen and Assessment for Quality Improvement (AQI).

  • Proven ability to interpret and implement organizational policies and procedures, guidelines, and protocols of external governing bodies such as Public Health and Ministry of Education

  • Must be detailed-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain accurate records 

  • Strong collaborative, interpersonal and relationship-building skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including active listening skills.

  • Ability to use tact, discretion, sound judgement, fair and effective problem solving and conflict resolution skills.

  • Passion for and working experience with guiding, mentoring and coaching colleagues

  • Must have up to date documentation required by the Ministry of Education: membership with the College of Early Childhood Educators, current certifications (First Aid CPR Level C), immunizations and a Vulnerable Sector Check

  • Experience managing a team within a unionized environment would be an asset.

  • A valid driver's license with access to a vehicle or reliable transportation is required.

  • Ability to lift approximately 50 pounds.
