EARLY CHILDHOOD ASSISTANT 

(ECA PT Split Shift SA - 12 Months Contract)

Who We Are:

The Learning Enrichment Foundation (LEF) is a not-for-profit (with a social enterprise mindset) which provides a multidisciplinary and holistic set of supports for members of our community including those who are: in transition, new to Canada, out of the workforce, and a host of other individual circumstances. We currently knit together Settlement Services, Child Care, Employment Supports, Skills Training, and Language Training.

Salary:

 $24.98 per hour

 Ideal Candidates and Role Expectations:

We are looking for enthusiastic, passionate, and motivated Early Childhood Assistants (ECAs) with experience in supporting the delivery of child-family- and community focused programs that foster resilience and inspire curiosity.

The role involves prioritizing the health, welfare, and safety of children while creating meaningful early childhood experiences. ECAs will support curriculum development by planning and implementing developmentally appropriate activities. Additionally, they will build and maintain nurturing relationships with colleagues and families, both in person and through online platforms.

Candidates are expected to actively contribute to the centre’s daily operations by adhering to best practices and the ethical standards set forth by all relevant governing bodies.

Qualifications and Experience:

 · Early Childhood Assistant Certificate or Equivalence of Experience

· At least 1 year of experience working with children aged 0-12

·  Food Handers Certificate is required

Knowledge and Skills:

· Familiarity of the Child Care and Early Years Act (2014) and Toronto Operating Criteria.

· Familiarity with the Early Learning Framework (ELF)Assessment for Quality Improvement (AQI), and How Does Learning Happen?.

· Experience supporting children with diverse abilities.

· Knowledge of and ability to follow LEF policies and procedures.

· Strong interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues.

· Effective use of tact, discretion, and sound judgment for conflict resolution and problem-solving.

· Demonstrated initiative, adaptability, and flexibility in handling unexpected situations.

· Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Additional Requirements:

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

· Ability to meet Ministry of Education and Public Health requirements:

· Current certifications (First Aid, CPR Level C).

·  Food Handlers Certificate is a MUST

·  Up-to-date immunizations.

·  Vulnerable Sector Criminal Reference Check.

·  Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
